Luftgekuhlt 11 is a big air cooled Porsche event that has been held on the west coast for the past 10 years. This year they are bringing it to Durham on October 4. This event will pull participants from all over the country and tickets will probably sell out. A portion of the Ingram Collection will be on display at this show. This show is a big deal!
Although this tour is intended primarily for spectators, you could register your air cooled Porsche in the show. If you want to do that you will need to register it separately with Luftgekuhlt 11, but you could drive up with us and take advantage of our room blocks at the hotels.
The tour will begin Thursday October 2 with a fantastic drive up to Huntersville, NC using a combination of interstate to the South Carolina border followed by a fabulous twisty route into the mountains. We will stay in the Hampton Inn at a rate of $148.67 including tax. You will receive the registration link once you are confirmed for the event. Friday we will visit the Hendricks Auto Museum (free entry), and the Mustang Owners Museum (entry fee $10) in Concord before continuing to Durham, NC, where we will stay at the Hiton Garden Inn Southpoint. The rate at the Hilton Garden Inn is $175/night plus tax, and we have a block of 15 rooms for 1 or 2 nights. Two choices of Luftgekuhlt tickets are available. You can get early entry at 8:00 for $90, or entry at 10:00 for $50 for adults. Children under 12 are free. In either case the show ends at 3:00. I expect most people will stay the second night as a result, but you could drive back to Atlanta after attending the event, which is why the hotel is being flexible on the number of nights.
Please note that both hotels will release the room blocks on September 2, so don’t delay, register today. You will get the links to reserve your rooms with your registration confirmation.
If you can’t drive up with us starting Thursday, you could either drive or fly up Friday and join us for the event.
