A new year always brings change, and this year will be no different. I hope one of the things that does not change is that we will continue to have a great turn out with lots of new members for the tours planned for the new year. The year will feature some old and some new destinations, and some new approaches to the logistics.
We acquired new radios just before the last tour of 2018 for the use of our leaders and sweepers. Since they are commonly available FRS radios, if you own one, bring it with you to the tours. This will provide better group communication than just having the leads/sweeps with radios. The more the merrier.
We will go to some new sites, and return to some we have previously really enjoyed. Even when going to a site we have visited before we will probably have a new route. We will have one day tours and overnight tours. We will usually include a group lunch stop, so plenty of time to socialize with your Porsche loving friends.
We are planning to try a new approach to route directions which will allow everyone to have access to spoken turn-by-turn instructions for the tour routes through a free app for your smart phone. Progress through technology, and less pressure for leads! I will update the touring page with info on how this will work as soon as it is all finalized, so stay tuned to this page.
We will continue to use clubregistration.net for all tour registrations. Please be sure your membership info is up-to-date on their site so that they can confirm your membership. Please note that all tours registration opening and closing dates will be posted. It is necessary to close registration a week in advance to insure all planning and communication can be handled. Many restaurants need this time, and I need it to finalize leads/sweeps for the tours, to insure that planned rest stops can accommodate our numbers, etc. Therefore I will not be able to take late registrations – so plan ahead!
We will continue to need volunteers to act as group leads and sweeps, as we break into driving groups of 8-10 cars.
