The annual “Brats” rally took place on a lovely October afternoon, with 23 teams from Peachstate and the Big Canoe Car Club participating. We met in a parking lot near Exit 13 of GA 400 to take care of the registration, tech inspection, and driver's meeting parts of the afternoon after which the rally course took our entrants on a scenic drive on some neat new roads up to Big Canoe by way of Atlanta Motorsports Park (the location of one of our checkpoints). One team had to drop out early in the event due to a family situation but everyone else achieved the main purpose of the afternoon—making it to Big Canoe for the party! You will note by the scores that some teams got very creative about how they got to Big Canoe, but when the dust cleared and the scores were tabulated the SOP winners were Ben Przekop and David Wilhide with a score of 61 and the Tour winners were David and Meredith Poole with a score of 183.

Like most PCA events, these can't be put on without a lot of volunteers; thanks to Lewis Broyles for tech inspection and help at CP 1, Kathy Baker & Barbara Gellner for help at registration, Bob Clark and Bonnie along with Lewis (again) and Jeff & Nancy Frye at CP 1, Chris & Barbara Gellner, Bert Chapman, and Dan, Leanne, Grant & Gavin Phillips at CP 3 (CP 2 was a do-it-yourself checkpoint), and Jack and Kathy Baker for help at the finish and scoring; Chris Gellner also helped Carole and me with scoring, and Kathy brought dessert. Profuse thanks again to the folks who put together the food we had at the finish; Lauren Grant & Karen Lowe for doing all the arrangements with Big Canoe and providing part of the food and Paul and Janice Phillips for the heavy cooking duties of grilling the brats and preparing the German potato salad.
