April Fool’s day was a wonderful, sunny Spring day for a Rally School. Registration was opened at 1 pm and the Classroom session began about 1:40 pm. The new PowerPoint presentation, created by Bill Ibsen, was shortened and slightly updated. Even with the changes, it still was a bit too long at just over 1.5 hours. We hope to have this presentation on the web in the next few months, where novice rallyists can learn about rallying at their own leisure and pace.

The short 2-Leg Rally began at 3:40 pm and by 4:30 pm, we were all in party mode. We had “munchies” at the clubhouse and then all were invited over to the Phillips’ home for a cookout of burgers and chicken. The party did not end until 7:30 pm and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Thanks to Kathy Baker who presented the “munchies” and soft drinks, and to Janice and Paul Phillips, who hosted us at Hardage Farm Clubhouse and then had us all over for the cookout. Thanks also to the Rally workers, Kathy who helped at Registration, Jack Baker, who teched the Rally cars and worked checkpoint 1 along with Danny Saxton. Dick Kjellsen helped at checkpoint 2 and scored the rally teams. Special thanks to all the rally participants, who seemed to enjoy the day and learned about the fun of Rallying.

Although it was a low turnout with only 5 rally teams, they all were brand new to rallies and for three of the five couples, this was their very first Peachstate event. The winners, with a low score of 109 were Brian Jefferies and Olena Wilson. Congratulations to you both and also to all of the participants.
