SUMMER RALLY 2011 - Results

Rally day was hot, however eight rally teams braved the heat and came out to participate in driving the quiet roads of southwest Atlanta. Several weeks prior to the rally, an article appeared in USA Today describing 51 scenic roads in the United States. For Georgia, the paper picked many of the roads on which the rally teams drove. The roads have very little traffic, which is amazing since most of the rally route was within a thirty minute drive of the Atlanta airport. There were some tricks on the rally, however all the teams made it to all the check points and did not get off course and go to the Alabama state line. At the rally end, participants enjoyed an all American picnic with hot dogs, watermelon , and brownies for desert.

To put on a rally, a number of workers are required, and for this rally, there were a great group to work the rally. Thank you Carol and Dick Kjellsen, Barbra and Chris Gellner, Danny Saxton, Nancy Frye, David Ulfik, Suzanne Minarcine, and a special thanks to Thomas Coursey for both working a checkpoint and then cooking the hot dogs to perfection.
