MEANING
Yellow

STATIONARY / SOLID: Caution; a hazard is ahead but should not require altering the racing line. NO PASSING IS ALLOWED. Slow down, exercise caution.

WAVING / FLASHING: Extreme Caution, a hazard is ahead that requires drivers to
slow significantly and/or take evasive action. NO PASSING IS ALLOWED.

Blue

STATIONARY / SOLID: Check mirrors, A faster car is approaching. Be ready to give a point by.

WAVING / FLASHING: Approaching car is much faster. Be ready to give a point by.

Black
image

Displayed at All Stations: Indicates a session has been stopped. Proceed slowly to the pits. Be alert for hazards on the track.

Displayed at Black Flag Station or Start: Driver needs to be brought in for some reason. Proceed to pit lane immediately and consult with Pit Out Marshall or Steward.

Meatball

Indicates there is something mechanically wrong with your car. Proceed to pit lane immediately and consult with Pit Out Marshall or Steward.

Red

EXTREME DANGER – THIS SESSION HAS STOPPED. Slow down immediately and proceed to the next manned corner station under 25 mph. Stop on track drivers right in clear view of the corner marshal and await further instruction.

White

Caution you are approaching a slow moving vehicle on the track. Take care. The white flag may be shown standing for up to two stations prior to the vehicle.

Debris / Surface

Take care. Something is on the surface of the track that may pose a hazard to you. This may be oil, fluids, or parts of a car. Proceed with care.

Green

The session is under way the instant the green flag is displayed. When a green flag is displayed, it indicates the course is clear.

Checker

You have finished the session. Continue cautiously to the pits.

Medical
image

SLOW DOWN: A medical vehicle, tilt bed, or personnel are on the track. Take care as you approach and leave plenty of room for work to continue. The Medical flag may be shown standing for up to two stations prior to the vehicle.
