resultsOur Concours season got off to a spectacular start on
Sunday, 15 April with our event in historic downtown Norcross on the
grounds of the City Hall. I am certain that whoever designed the
parking area of the facility had a hidden desire to see it used for a
Porsche event, as it was a perfect venue. The park like setting
provided a friendly environment for our registration and scoring
volunteers to carry out their duties. In addition, the proximity to the
downtown restaurants allowed competitors and spectators to take
advantage of their offerings during the event. 36 registered vehicles
competed in the Concours, and one of our members chose to bring 3 of
his Porsches for the competition.
Jerry Peters brought his Savannah Parade Honorary Judges Choice Award
winning 1965 911 to compete in Full Concours and also brought a 1961
356 Roadster and a rally prepared 1968 911 to compete in the French
category. Further expanding participation in our events was the first
appearance competively of a Panamera, entered by Rich Stomp.
Though the judges were challenged by the preponderance of pollen that
our Spring provided to blanket the automobiles, allowances were made
and results were tabulated and then presented. The competition was so
close that there were ties in three categories in French F2, F3 and F5.
You might not be aware but there is a way to address ties in the Parade
Competition rules should they occur by using the individual scores
first starting with exterior then on to interior, engine and storage if
needed. Since the ties occurred in French only the exterior and
interior scores could be used. In F3 the scores were exactly the same
in both interior and exterior so after much discussion it was decided
to award 2nd to both competitors. Congratulations to Ian Scott and
Haven Riviere. To much acclaim People's Choice was awarded to Jerry
Peters and his bright red 356 Roadster.
Our thanks go out to all who participated in the event, and especially
to the following volunteers who gave freely of their time:
