How Do I Start? |
|
If you have never been to a DE Event, the first step is to check the Peachstate Calendar and see when the next event is scheduled. These events are open to all members free of charge to come spectate and see what goes on. You are welcome to attend any of the Classroom sessions and watch the events from the Pit area and drive around the track interior to view from any of the 12 corners. There are always Staff Members available, and while they are busy with their duties, they are always happy to answer questions and explain what is taking place.
Peachstate has recently added the "Taste of the Track" which is a logical next step, where for a nominal fee, you attend the classroom sessions and ride with an Instructor in their car on track at high speed in an actual run session for you to see what it is really like out there.
We also offer a Track Touring session on Sunday during our enforced "Quiet Time" when anyone in any type of street legal, muffled vehicle, for a nominal donation to our charity, can experience a number of laps behind a pace car at reduced speeds to see things from track side. Family members and friends are allowed and for potential "First Timers" who have spouses who are not quite sure what is actually involved, it allows them to see first hand the structure and safety measures that are the keys for making our program such a success with its outstanding safety record.
As you have noticed, there are a number of Click boxes at the top of this page. They have been designed to allow members the ability to read and have the majority of beginner questions answered here as students begin to get a handle on what is actually involved.
If you decide this is something of interest and wish to get involved, one of our members has put together an outstanding DE Manual. I recommend that you print yourself a copy (yes, it is long) and take the time to read carefully, think it over, and read it again. There will be a lot going on at these events, and it is easy to get overwhelmed if not prepared. Years of experience on our part has proven that taking the time to read and familiarize yourself with its content before your event will greatly reduce your fear and intimidation factor and get you up to speed so that you are familiar and on the same page with all that will be going on at the event. A majority of those "Stupid Basic Questions" that we all have and do not want to ask in public will be answered here and greatly increase your confidence and fun for the weekend.
That is the first step…Come on out and get involved. Enjoy a thrilling and wonderful event with Great People at a World Class Facility in a safe and award winning program.
On behalf of the Peachstate Driving Committee Staff…I invite you to come out and have some fun!!!
