Brasstown Valley Resort: What a lovely place with nifty mountain roads scattered all around! Don't Passmore, Speedling, Road Side, Back Road and No-Where Rd sound like they were made for Porsches? Those that ran the Rally also saw Hicks Gap Rd with its truly "Enchanted Forest." We hope everyone enjoyed the route which was mostly in Union County.

The Rally had been written for the usual about 40 cars. When we found out that over 50 were signed up, we needed to add a rest break because we had enough workers to man only two checkpoint locations. At registration an amazing 61 teams showed up. An additional 10 minute block was added to the rest break time so not to overload the checkpoint #1 workers before the checkpoint #3 cars descended on them. Thanks to Select Tire/Auto and Hemphill Building Supply for allowing us to use their parking lots. Fortune prevailed only two days before Rennfest when Dave and Ike from Blairsville showed us the Walmart restbreak site which is not visible from the highway.

For only the second time in Rennfest history the winning score was a total error of under one minute. T.J. Minarcine and Leslie Mitcheltree turned in leg times of 4, 3, 23 and 17 seconds for a total of 47 seconds on four legs to win SOP class. Ben and Geoff Przekop took the top place in Tour class. The dubious DALBF Pink Pig honor went to Lynn Ayers and Joan Rose.

Our workers were fantastic. Brian and Lisa King got everyone underway at the start. At checkpoints #1 and #3 were Betty Jo and Leonard Turner, Sue Pollard, Bert Chapman, Debbie Carlson and T.J. and Matt Kessler. Checkpoint #2 workers included Lori Hagle, John Crowell, Debbie Sullivan, Carolyn Axt and Nancy Frye. Thanks also to Bob Kuchenbecker for helping us at checkpoint #4.
